Our story

5 generations of Winemakers, 3 generations of Opera singers!

The banks of the river Rhône have been home to the vines and the winemakers for some 2000 years. Situated in this prime location, the Rhône Valley of France has over the years produced wines which embody a sense of unity, dynamism and fame and reflect the vast diversity of this area.

Traditions, dedication, lifestyle, passion

Juliette Marcelli

Château Juliette's wines are the result of more than 100 years of winemaking. In 1865 Julian Marcelli bought his first parcel of land and was one of the first graduates of agronomy in France. However it is due to Juliette Marcelli’s commitment that the property presents as it does today. Prematurely orphaned and widowed at an early age, it was her connection to the land and pure dedication that drove her, against all odds, into a career considered exclusively for men.

After 5 generations of winemakers, the family has continued to refine their craft and knowledge of the art of winemaking.

Experience, innovation, curiosity, style

Today this family business continues to uphold the traditions and aspirations of their ancestors. Utilizing the premium location and fine quality of their vines, the Marcelli family founded Château Juliette and today is dedicated to winemaking quality, innovation and style. With a modest production of AOC Côtes du Rhône and AOC Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun, Château Juliette maximises the attributes of the Rhône Valley, known all over the world for their wines of great quality. The focus on quality, not on quantity, frames the ideals of Château Juliette as they continue to search for optimum harmony between cultivation and the environment.

Gift, talent, art, commitment

« Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy, it is the wine of a new procreation, and I am Bacchus who presses out this glorious wine for men and makes them drunk with the spirit. »

Ludwig van Beethoven,
quoted in Marion M Scott, Beethoven (1934).

The family’s preoccupation for classical music expands over several generations. Alexandre Marcelli grew up with the sound of Puccini, Massenet and Verdi and followed this passion of opera music through from his childhood to becoming himself an opera singer performing internationally in theatres such as in Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam.

The same enthusiasm and passion the family has for opera has also gone into our knowledge and experience of wine making. The creativity and imagination must always be evident and should enhance individuality and charisma.

We believe the fine art of wine and opera go hand in hand, it is the ‘leitmotif’ of Château Juliette. So seduce your senses and divulge the harmony between wine and opera.
